Graphic and Web Designer Katy Williamson didn’t expect her first year with business-to-business experts Full Mix Marketing to be quite so eventful.
Joining the growing firm in late November 2019, she got to work supporting their clients and helping the agency rebrand before the coronavirus pandemic put many plans on hold.
Katy says “The pandemic certainly made my first year memorable. Having settled into the team, the lockdown came out of nowhere. Fortunately, we’d almost completed the rebrand and website, so we made the finishing touches and went live!”
New Zealand-born Katy joined the agency with a wealth of experience gained both in the Northern and Southern hemisphere, most recently with another successful Norwich-based agency.
As lead graphic designer, she has taken on an overarching role making the best of visual design for the agency’s clients. However, her time was first directed towards the agency itself.
“As a marketing agency, we know the value of a fresh perspective even with our own marketing. With Katy we found someone who could take a look and deliver the same methodical results we do for our clients.” says James West, joint-founder and director of Full Mix Marketing.
Katy began by characterising the agency’s typical client before developing a brand strategy, design and website that sought to appeal directly to them. As the team followed government advice to work from home, the brand and website were launched resulting in an encouraging flurry of enquiries they hope will continue once the second lockdown eases.
Since the team returned to working from their offices in the summer, Katy has directed all her attentions to Full Mix Marketing’s clients.
“Many of our clients are in manufacturing, engineering or business services, which are much more visual than many might think. We get the opportunity to use design, mostly online, to make them stand out as the innovative, professional companies they are. It’s very rewarding” adds Katy
Throughout the year, Katy’s talents have been employed on designing a wide range of marketing materials including brochures, presentations, email marketing, social media and supporting her fellow website designers. She says her highlight was a brochure and website for a manufacturer of bottles for cosmetics and toiletries.
Katy adds “My role at Full Mix is pretty diverse. We’re a real team so someone comes up with the concept, someone creates the content, I deliver the design, then we work together until we’re confident it will deliver the results our client needs”
As a mother of two, Katy has naturally had to balance work with her family life, especially when schools were closed for the summer term. However, it has also given her time to stretch her artistic muscles for fun by creating collages.
James concludes “Katy was an important addition and has fitted in perfectly with our whole ethos. With her excellent design skills, she helps us deliver marketing which our clients are genuinely proud of. As we act as a genuine marketing department for most clients, we get to continually develop their marketing which I know she really enjoys”
